WIRES Wildlife Photography Competition is on again!
WIRES' Annual Wildlife Photography Competition is back, and your submissions can make a real difference for native animals in need.
Your image could be featured in the WIRES 2027 Wildlife Calendar, with all proceeds directly supporting wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and recovery efforts across Australia.
Whether you're a seasoned photographer, a nature lover, or someone who captured a magical moment with a native animal, we want to see your best shots!
The competition opens on Friday 10th July and closes midnight Sunday 26th July.
Entry Rules and Guidelines
Please make sure your photos meet these standards before entering:
✓ Feature Australian native wildlife.
✓ Photograph wildlife ethically, without baiting, chasing, handling, harassment or habitat disturbance.
✓ Clearly disclose if an animal was rescued, rehabilitated, captive or photographed in a restricted setting.
✓ Keep edits honest and natural. AI-generated images, misleading composites, and heavy manipulation are not permitted.
✓ Submit high-resolution, print-quality files where possible, with a minimum of 300 dpi for calendar consideration.
✓ Please avoid watermarks, borders, text overlays and heavy filters.

Who can enter?
The WIRES Wildlife Photography Competition is open to Australian residents. Entrants under 18 will need permission from a parent or guardian before submitting their wildlife photos.
What file type/s should I upload?
Please upload high quality JPEG, JPG or PNG files where possible. For calendar consideration, photos should be high resolution and print quality, with a minimum of 300 dpi where possible.
Do entrants keep copyright?
Yes. Photographers retain copyright and ownership of their submitted photos. By entering, you grant WIRES royalty free, non exclusive permission to use submitted images in WIRES communications, fundraising, education, promotion and print materials, including the WIRES calendar.
Can edited images be entered?
Light, natural editing is allowed, such as small adjustments to brightness, contrast, cropping or colour. AI generated images, misleading composites, heavy manipulation, watermarks, borders, text overlays and heavy filters are not permitted.
