Omoda Jaecoo Australia has announced a major new partnership with WIRES (Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service), Australia's largest wildlife rescue charity, committing $56,000 in funding and also supplying a Jaecoo J7 SHS to support WIRES' Emergency Response Team.

The loan J7 will join the WIRES Emergency Response Team (ERT) fleet, which currently manages eight wildlife ambulances and Emergency Responders across NSW, Queensland and Tasmania. Omoda Jaecoo will provide the J7 SHS wrapped in WIRES branding, with servicing and roadside assistance covered for the duration of the partnership.

The partnership arrives at a significant moment for WIRES, which this year celebrates 40 years of wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and advocacy. Founded in 1985, the organisation has grown from a small, Sydney-based volunteer group into a national movement, improving welfare outcomes for more than two million native animals.

The support comes at a time of growing demand. WIRES' 24/7 Rescue Office has recorded a 200% increase in calls reporting native animals struck by vehicles in the weeks following the end of daylight saving - a period that sees peak-hour traffic coincide with the time nocturnal wildlife emerge to feed. WIRES believes this figure represents only a fraction of actual incidents, with many going unreported.

Roy Munoz, Chief Commercial Officer of Omoda Jaecoo Australia, said: "Australia has an incredibly unique relationship with its native wildlife, and we're proud to support the people on the frontline protecting it. WIRES has spent 40 years building something truly remarkable - a community-driven rescue network that shows up every single day for animals that can't speak for themselves. For Omoda Jaecoo, this partnership is about more than contributing a vehicle. It's a reflection of our commitment to supporting the causes that matter most to Australians, and a natural fit for a brand that designs its vehicles with animals in mind."

“Omoda Jaecoo’s support will make a tangible difference to the animals we rescue every day,” said Leanne Taylor, CEO of WIRES. “Our teams are responding to a growing number of wildlife emergencies and every minute counts. This vehicle will help our responders reach injured animals faster and provide critical care when it matters most.”

The Jaecoo J7 SHS is well suited to the task. The Super Hybrid System seamlessly switches between full electric and hybrid petrol modes, combining the silent driving and rapid acceleration of an electric vehicle with the practicality of a petrol hybrid. With a combined driving range of 1,200km and ultra-low fuel consumption rated at 1.0L/100km* on the combined cycle, it is backed by an eight-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.
