Woolworths and WIRES Food For Wildlife
As part of Woolworths commitment to it’s 2025 sustainability plan, Woolworths is aiming to redistribute 100% of its edible unsold food to those who need it most, but before it reaches the bin, Woolworths have set up food relief programs that aim to reduce waste and benefits native animals.
WIRES and Woolworths work with volunteers and rescue groups to provide food that would otherwise be diverted to waste to wildlife where appropriate. Early in 2020 WIRES volunteer Rebbecca Synnott worked with Woolworths to establish a Food for Wildlife program supporting local wildlife carers and groups across the country.
The initiative has proven to be incredibly successful with over 100 Woolworths stores across Australia currently involved ( and additional locations coming on board every month), providing essential fruit and vegetables for wildlife in care.
If you are a licenced carer, please register your interest by contacting [email protected] and our team will link you to a Woolworths store in your area.
