National Wildlife Network
WIRES delivers extensive support to the wildlife rescue and rehabilitation sector nationally. WIRES’ National Wildlife Network partners with dozens of groups and thousands of carers to support the rescue and care of Australian wildlife.
In recent years WIRES has provided millions of dollars to support wildlife rescue and care projects across every state and territory, becoming the largest supporter of the sector in Australia.
National Wildlife Network programs are open to eligible wildlife rescue organisations and authorised carers.
Support programs available include:
- Wildlife Training – with a wide range of national courses available online and subsidised pricing for associates of the network.
- Systems Support – offering groups free access to systems to help manage the increasing numbers of native animals needing rescue and care annually.
- Food Support – with two programs in place to help feed wildlife in care.
- Grant Funding - to assist with the purchase of critical rescue and care equipment and supplies.
- Disaster Relief – providing groups with immediate assistance with essential equipment and supplies to assist large numbers of native animals impacted by major emergency events.
In addition to providing frontline support for the wildlife rescue and rehabilitation sector, WIRES’ National Wildlife network is designed to increase collaboration between organisations actively involved in wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, protection, and conservation, to improve long-term outcomes for native species.
Long-term partnerships and collaboration are imperative to delivering better long-term outcomes for wildlife – for individual animals and wild species populations. To help facilitate this WIRES sends out a national e-newsletter to associates in the network, with key program and sector updates and opportunities.
