In the past year, our urgent calls
for wildlife have risen to over 163,000...
Many thousands of those native animals end up in WIRES care and they are always hungry!
Your donation today will help us provide nutritious, species-specific food and formula for thousands of native animals in our volunteers’ care over the coming year.
There are over 100 specialist food items on the list for WIRES volunteers, and thanks to the support of people like you, they remain 100% subsidised!

This is how you’ll help feed hungry wildlife in care!
The supplementary formulas for rescued wildlife vary widely depending on the age and growth stage of the native animal. Carers will often need a variety of formulas and foods as the animal transitions through different stages of growth.
Species-specific nourishment and dedicated care can give injured, orphaned and sick wildlife a second chance at life...
Out in Far Western NSW, WIRES volunteer Rylee has cared for 12 orphaned macropod joeys in the past year alone. Their mothers had been struck by cars, or malnourished by drought.
When they come into WIRES care, these traumatised joeys are often weak and dehydrated. They require warmth, fluids and specialist milk formula before beginning their long journey in care.

“The fact is, the orphans coming into our care have had their whole world taken from them.
The specialist formulas and supplements we provide are so important, because they help us give back some of what they've lost... making sure they have the best chance of survival in the wild.
I’m grateful I can give that back to them.”
~ Rylee, WIRES Volunteer, Far West Branch
Your donation to WIRES’ Festive Food Appeal will go straight to WIRES Food Fund, which will help volunteers like Rylee give rescued animals the food and care they need to survive.
