Your gift by June 30 will save native animals:

In the past year WIRES has responded to more than 163,000 native animals in distress, and every year the numbers rise.

These are the survivors of Australian wildlife, and without urgent safeguards, they too will soon be lost.

But you can help! Your donation today will help us rescue and protect many thousands of injured, orphaned and displaced native animals over the coming year. It will support our 24/7 Wildlife Rescue Office so when a member of our community finds a native animal in distress, there is someone available to take their urgent call. They will provide help and advice and where possible, arrange the vital logistics behind getting that native animal out of immediate danger and into lifesaving care.

Just as important, your donation will make sure thousands of wildlife volunteers have access to the support they need to make a tangible difference for the native animals in their care. You'll be supporting them with species-specific food, specialist formulas, rescue supplies, flight aviaries, humidicribs, medicines and pre-release enclosures that truly do make an extraordinary difference to rescued native animals preparing for the wild.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Why is this appeal needed right now?

The loss of our native species is a quiet tragedy and it’s playing out across the world. Since 1970, global wildlife populations have collapsed by a shocking 73%* and for most wild species it’s only getting worse.

But there is something you can do for Australian species. WIRES dedicated wildlife rescue service, is one of the most vital safeguards our native animals have left.

And the gift you give today will make sure we can continue providing this lifesaving rescue, protection and care, for the thousands of native animals who need our help each year.

2. How will WIRES use my donation?
Your donations are carefully allocated to where they're needed most, whether it's supporting frontline rescue, specialised wildlife care, training or national programs that protect native animals across Australia.

You can see exactly how your support is used here: https://www.wires.org.au/how-funds-are-used
3. Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. WIRES is a registered Australian charity, and all donations of $2 or more are tax deductible in Australia. A receipt will be emailed to you after your donation.
