Donation Receipts
The tragic fires and drought that ravaged Australia have taken a horrific toll on our wildlife and WIRES was deeply moved by the community support we have received nationally and internationally since January 2020.
The overwhelming response is helping us to expand our rescue and rehabilitation services to benefit more animals effective immediately.
For Australian citizens all donations to WIRES over $2 are tax-deductible. International donors should seek advice regarding the tax status of any donations made.
Annual Receipt for Regular Givers
If you are a WIRES regular monthly donor or Virtual Carer your annual receipt will be emailed or posted to you during July.
Donations via WIRES website using Credit Card
If you have made a donation through our credit card payment system a tax deductible receipt is usually automatically generated by the banking system at the time of the transaction. This receipt will be sent to the email address you used on our donation form. If you have received email confirmation you should retain this receipt for taxation purposes. If you did not receive a receipt please first check your junk email folder.
The Australian Tax Office (ATO) advises that in most circumstances a tax deductible receipt is not required to claim a deduction for a donation to a charity with DGR (Deductible Gift Recipient) status. You are able to claim the deduction using your bank statement or internet banking copy of the transfer details, in most cases this is sufficient evidence of your donation for taxation purposes.
You can see this advice from the ATO here. Please note that WIRES does have DGR status.
Donations made via a Facebook fundraiser
If you made a donation via a Facebook fundraiser WIRES is unable to receipt donations. Donor details are not received by us.
To find a record of your payments, login to your facebook account, go to settings and select Payments or Payment history to view donations made.
Paypal Donations
If you donated via Paypal from our website you will have received a receipt for the donation directly from them to the email address you use for your PayPal account. Please check junk email folders.
The Paypal receipt and your bank statement should be sufficient for most tax purposes.
