- Wildlife Info
Most of our wildlife needs tree hollows for shelter but trees can take 100 or more years to develop hollows. Where natural hollows are limited you can help your local wildlife by installing nest boxes.
Some species are more in need than others try making and installing a box for Feathertail gliders, Red-rumped Parrots, Microbats or Antechinus.
Before you start you need to choose which animals you will build boxes for. Wildlife can be very fussy so you need the correct design and dimensions to attract your target species.
Recently the Greater Sydney Local Land Services have produced a guide focusing on instructions for building nest boxes for the species most in need. Download the free LLS guide now.
There are also guides for specialist nest boxes for a range of bird species available at Birds in Backyards.
