Freshwater Crocodile rescued in Rooty Hill PDF Print E-mail

Freshwater Crocodile image thanks to RoseA very unusual rescue occurred deep in suburban Rooty Hill in Sydney's west on Tuesday evening. A caller rang WIRES to say her teenage daughter had found a crocodile in their backyard.

Albatross Entanglement PDF Print E-mail

Albatross releaseWIRES recently had a very special bird in care. Initially, two albatrosses were seen entangled in fishing line by an alert member of the public.

He rang to report that the birds were in serious trouble and couldn’t fly.

Luckily, a WIRES volunteer was in Eden at the time and quickly went to the rescue. Sadly, the male bird was dead.

However, the female only had an injury to one of her legs.  She spent five days in care and dined on fresh squid!

Kangaroo rescue at Burrendong DamTraining courses for 2012 are currently scheduled for Lismore, Bourke, Goulburn, West Lindfield, Coffs Harbour, Liverpool and Grafton areas.

WIRES needs caring people to help native wildlife, particularly in spring and summer when fires and floods are more frequent.

If you have ever wanted to help and want to be ready to assist, look for a training course in your local area.

If there is no training scheduled for your area you can register to receive email updates on upcoming training courses.
