WIRES AmbulanceMany, if not most WIRES volunteers work in full or part-time work and this means many are not available to rescue wildlife during normal business hours. It is difficult for our volunteers, using their own vehicles, time and money to handle the volume of rescue requests we now receive.

The number of animals requiring assistance continues to grow and WIRES looked for ways to respond in an appropriate time frame to ensure the best results for injured wildlife.

Our ambulance is professionally managed by Jo, a WIRES member with over 10 years of rescue experience. Jo is a trained reptile handler and has built up a wide store of knowledge allowing her to manage challenging situations. The service complements and assists our overworked volunteers.

It also means we are reducing the waiting time for Australian wildlife in distress.

While the wildlife ambulance is a wonderful addition to WIRES the cost involved is substantial for a small organisation.

We would like to call on everyone who cares about wildlife and who can see the tremendous help this ambulance provides to our wildlife and our dedicated volunteers, to help us by donating to our WIRES Wildlife Ambulance Appeal.

Donations can be made online via our secure donation facility.
